FERRUM, Va. -- Ferrum College battled Converse University in Conference Carolinas volleyball action Saturday, September 12, at home before falling 3-0 to the Valkyries at Swartz Gym.

THE BASICS
Ferrum stayed within striking distance throughout the opening set, which featured seven tie scores and three lead changes. The Panthers held a late lead, only to see Converse rally to take the set 26-24. The Valkyries carried the momentum into the second set, hitting .452 as a team and taking the set 25-18, then closed it out with a 25-15 win in the third and final set.
KEY STATS
Catherine Bennett led Ferrum with nine kills and added six digs.
Makayla Rumley recorded four kills and a block, while
Emma Powell also had four kills and two blocks.
Danielle Worthy added three kills and finished with one solo block and two block assists.
Lily Ritzema recorded five kills, while
Rachel Hall contributed seven assists and one block assist.
Harleigh Propst closed the afternoon with 15 assists for the Panthers, and
Angela Castillo had eight digs.
Avery Tucker and
Daniela Castillo each posted four digs for Ferrum. Converse finished with a .267 team hitting percentage and held advantages in kills (43-29), assists (40-26) and digs (38-33).
