FERRUM, Va. -- Ferrum College scored twice in the second half to secure a 2-0 Conference Carolinas men's soccer shutout win over University of Mount Olive Wednesday evening at Penn-Roediger Field.

THE BASICS
After a scoreless first half, the Panthers broke through early in the second half and added an insurance goal late to remain unbeaten on the season.
Ferrum and Mount Olive battled through a scoreless opening 45 minutes, with both teams generating several scoring opportunities. The Panthers held a 7-5 advantage in shots during the first half and earned four corner kicks.
Ferrum opened the scoring in the 51st minute when Ben Hooper converted a penalty kick at the 50:31 mark to put the Panthers ahead, 1-0. The Panthers added to their lead in the 77th minute when Christian Ott found the back of the net at 76:16, giving Ferrum a 2-0 advantage.
Ferrum's defense held firm over the final minutes, while goalkeeper Michael Arzillo recorded eight saves to preserve the shutout. Arzillo made seven saves in the second half as Mount Olive applied pressure late.
