BLACKSBURG, Va. -- Ferrum College's men's and women's cross country teams competed Friday, September 4, at the Virginia Tech Invitational, held at  Virginia Tech's Buford Meredith Cross Country Course. The Panther women finished sixth in the team standings with 153 points, while the Ferrum men also placed sixth with 168 points.

WOMEN'S RACE
Virginia Tech won the women's team competition with 15 points, followed by Washington and Lee (58), Lynchburg (86), Concord (125), UVA-Wise (134), and Ferrum (153).

Sarah Hudgins led the Panthers, finishing 36th overall in the 4.4K race with a time of 18:49.2. Riley Waldron followed closely in 37th at 18:50.2.

Carly Carwile placed 48th in 19:27.0, followed by Destyne Rutherford in 51st at 20:07.6 and Ellianna Montgomery in 52nd at 20:22.9.
Hannah Banks finished 60th in 21:22.6, while Mi'Yah Young was 61st in 23:14.8.

MEN'S RACE
Virginia Tech captured the men's team title with 19 points, followed by Washington and Lee (53), Lynchburg (66), Concord (85), UVA-Wise (128), and Ferrum (168).

Damani Veney-Epps paced the Ferrum men, finishing 39th overall in the 6K race with a time of 20:17.2. Carlos Menendez was 44th in 20:28.6, followed by Tyler Elliott in 48th at 20:39.5.

Ethan Fitzgerald finished 59th in 21:09.1, while Bryson Kelly placed 72nd in 22:54.4. Ayden Brown was 73rd in 23:01.1, and Isaiah Chenier finished 75th in 24:16.7.
