FERRUM, VA. -- Five different players scored for the Panthers as Ferrum College earned a 5-1 USA South men's soccer win over Averett University at home.
The Panthers scored in the 10th minute of play when
Brennan Murphy's shot on Averett goalkeeper Justin Price was deflected and he slammed it back in.
Will Jorgensen put Ferrum up 2-0 with a goal at 18:28 off a pass from
Matt Larkin.
Carter Smith gave Ferrum a 3-0 halftime lead when he scored off a
Seth Hill corner kick.
Kevin Price scored in the 65th minute of play, assisted by
Rolando Ramos.
KJ Rowe then scored in the 75th minute off a long pass from
Walter Wright, who fed him the ball from near mid-field.
Niclas Dahlin scored for Averett in the 79th minute of play off a penalty kick to avoid the shutout.

Chris Taylor played the first half in net for Ferrum, making no saves.
Ben Pittsley played the second half in net and made two saves, while allowing the lone Averett goal. Justin Price played all 90 minutes in net for Averett (1-10, 0-5 USA South), making 10 saves. Ferrum out-shot the Cougars 24-9.
Ferrum (3-13, 1-4 USA South) returns to action tomorrow, Oct. 22, at home against Southern Virginia University. The non-conference match begins at 4 p.m. at Penn-Roediger Field. Prior to the match, Ferrum will hold a Senior Day ceremony in which it will honor graduating seniors
