FERRUM, Va. --
Jessica Lively had a pair of goals and an assist to lead Ferrum College to a 3-0 USA South Athletic Conference women's soccer win over Averett University tonight at home.
The Panthers got on the board late in the first half on Lively's first goal at the 41:04 mark off a pass from
Olivia Callahan. The goal spotted Ferrum a 1-0 halftime lead. The Panthers out-shot Averett by a count of 14-2 in the first half.
At the 55:21 mark of the second half, Callahan again found Lively, who then beat Averett goalkeeper Samantha Lupo for a 2-0 lead.
Kelsey Walters added an insurance goal in the 61st minute of play off a pass from Lively.
Ferrum out-shot the Cougars 26-6 and held a 6-3 lead in corner kicks. The Panthers had one scoring opportunity nullified by an offside call.
Lupo played all 90 minutes in net for Averett (9-6-1, 3-5 USA South), making nine saves.
Katie Hodkinson went the distance in net for the Panthers, posting the shutout without making a save.
Ferrum (6-10-1, 3-5 USA South) will close out regular season action at home Saturday, Nov. 1, against Shenandoah University. The USA South match gets underway at 6 p.m. at Penn-Roediger Field. Prior to the match, Ferrum will honor Lively during a pre-game Senior Night ceremony.
