Men's Soccer Falls at Emory & Henry

EMORY, Va. -- Freshman Tamiko Aptsiauri scored a goal for Ferrum College this afternoon, but it wasn't enough as the men's soccer team fell 3-1 to Emory & Henry College on the road.

Box Score:  E&H 3, Ferrum 1

Aptsiauri put Ferrum up 1-0 with an unassisted goal in the 12th minute of play, only to see the Wasps close out the first half with three unanswered goals.

PJ Henson recorded a rare hat trick for Emory & Henry.  Hanson scored in the 21st minute, the 24th minute and the 37th minute for the Wasps.

E&H out-shot Ferrum 22-20.  Ferrum took eight corner kicks, to the Wasps' six.  GK Chris Taylor made 10 saves in net for Ferrum, while Daniel Mills made nine for the Wasps.  Emory & Henry also had one team save.

The win improves Emory & Henry to 4-2-1, while the Panthers fall to 2-4 with the non-conference loss.

Coach Rod Baker's squad returns to action this Saturday, Sept. 20, at North Carolina Wesleyan College.  The USA South Athletic Conference opener is set to begin at 1 p.m. in Rocky Mount, N.C.  The Battling Bishops are ranked #4 in the South Region in the most recent National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) poll, released Sept. 16.
