FERRUM -- Kellie Flaherty converted a penalty kick with 1:06 left in the first half to lift Emory & Henry College to a 1-0 non-conference women's soccer win over Ferrum College tonight at Penn-Roediger Field.

Goalkeeper Hayley Poland preserved the shutout for Emory & Henry (5-1), posting five saves. Katie Hodkinson made three saves for Ferrum (1-4-1).

Ferrum outshot the Wasps 9-8, and E&H held a 6-4 edge in corner kicks.

Coach Sandy Lagana's team will be back in action Sept. 22 when it faces NCAA Div. II opponent Lees-McRae College.  The non-conference match is set to get underway at 7 p.m. in Banner Elk, North Carolina.
