NCAA BOX SCORE
FERRUM, Va. -- Aubrey Bonorden scored with :08 left in regulation to lift North Carolina Wesleyan College to a 2-1 win over Ferrum College tonight in USA South women's soccer action at Penn-Roediger Field.
Kellie Simons had a chance to score the game-winner but Ferrum goalkeeper
Katie Hodkinson came out to make the save 12 yards out from the net. When the ball popped loose, Bonorden was there to put it away. Simons was credited with an assist on the play.
Ferrum (1-6-1, 0-1 USA South) opened scoring at 35:41 on Kara Pegram's unassisted goal. The Panthers' 1-0 halftime lead was short-lived when Meredith Hester's breakaway goal off a pass from Simons evened things just 28 seconds into the second half for N.C. Wesleyan (3-3, 1-0 USA South).
Hodkinson made six saves for Ferrum, while Tiina Rastiola made eight for the Bishops. Both keepers played all 90 minutes in net. Ferrum out-shot N.C. Wesleyan 22-11 and held a 7-1 edge in corner kicks.
Ferrum returns to action Sunday, Sept. 27, at home against Christopher Newport University. The USA South match begins at 2 p.m. at Penn-Roediger Field.
