FERRUM, Va. -- The Ferrum College men's basketball team dropped a 74-60 USA South game to Christopher Newport University Jan. 17 at home.

J.T. Edwards led the Panthers with 15 points, including a rim-rattling dunk with just under a minute to go in the first half.  Derek Mitchell added 13 points and 22 rebounds in the loss.

Christopher Newport (7-8, 2-2 USA South) was led by Conley Taylor, who had a game-high 26 points on 9-13 shooting.  Theo Baker had 15 points, including five three-point baskets.

Ferrum (8-9, 2-3 USA South) returns to action Wednesday, Jan. 20, at home against Averett University. The USA South doubleheader tips off at 5:30 p.m. with the women's game, and will be followed immediately by the men.
