Derek Mitchell posted a 15-point, 11-rebound game to lead Ferrum College to a 92-54 non-conference men's basketball win over visiting Piedmont College.
Mitchell's 11th rebound of the night gave him 1,000 career rebounds. He is the first men's basketball player at Ferrum to ever reach the 1,000-point, 1,000-rebound milestone, and the second overall from the College.
Melisa Buchanan accomplished the feat with 1,139 points and 1,132 rebounds from 1997-2000. Mitchell currently has 1,223 points and 1,000 rebounds.
Daryl Hart added 14 points in the Panther win, including three baskets from behind the arc.

Nick English chipped in 12 points each.
Piedmont (5-5) was led by Michael Ross' 11 points and Kyle Lundberg's 10. Ferrum led 44-21 at the break and out-rebounded the Lions 50-26.
Ferrum is off to its best start since 1991-92. That year, the Panthers, coached by Bill Pullen, reeled off eight wins to open the season before finishing 21-8. Ferrum won the 1992 USA South Tournament (then known as the Dixie Conference) and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Division III Tournament.
Ferrum (8-0) returns to action Saturday, Dec. 18, at home against Lancaster Bible College. The non-conference game tips off at 1 p.m. at Swartz Gym.
