ROANOKE, Va. -- The Ferrum College women's soccer team got three second-half goals en route to a 3-1 non-conference win over Hollins University this afternoon on the road.
Becca Logan gave Hollins a 1-0 lead when she scored off an assist from Mary wells in the 34th minute of play. The goal would be the only of the first half.
Olivia Callahan got Ferrum on the board when she bent a corner kick in from the right side in the 76th minute. The goal would start a three-goal barrage by the Panthers in the next 10 minutes.
Kara Pegram scored the eventual game-winner for Ferrum when her original shot was blocked by Hollins goalkeeper Kristen Norkus. Pegram controlled the rebound, dribbled around Norkus and poked the ball in at the 79:08 mark.
LaQuinta Garrett added an insurance goal unassisted in the 85th minute.
Katie Hodkinson played all 90 minutes in net for Ferrum, making 10 saves. Norkus also played 90 minutes and had 10 saves for Hollins (1-2)
Ferrum (3-1) returns to action Wednesday, Sept. 15, at Emory & Henry College at 7 p.m. The match is the last of five straight road contests to open the Panthers' 2010 season. Ferrum plays its home-opener Friday, Sept. 17, against Bluefield College at 7 p.m. at Penn-Roediger Field. That match will be played in conjunction with the College's Family Weekend.
