FERRUM, Va. -- Ferrum College made a run in the third set, but fell 3-0 (15-25, 8-25, 19-25) to Averett University on Wednesday night inside Swartz Gym. 

Kayla Trippeer led Ferrum with a match-high nine kills, while Bridget Atkinson dished out 16 assists. 

Averett attacked at a .296 clip and out-blocked the Panthers (0-23, 0-13 USA South) 6-2.  Sarah Sparks and Brittany Moore both put down six kills for Averett (20-9, 11-2 USA South).  Nicole Barringer accounted for 18 of the Cougars' 31 assists.  

Ferrum is back in action Friday, Oct. 21, when the Panthers take on Guilford College at 7 p.m.  The non-conference tilt is also DIG PINK NIGHT, so fans are encouraged to wear pink.
