FERRUM, Va. -- Director of Athletics Cleive Adams has announced that
Morgan Milligan has been promoted to Head Women's Volleyball Coach at Ferrum College. Milligan recently completed her third season as Assistant Women's Volleyball Coach with the Panthers.
Since joining the Ferrum women's volleyball staff, Milligan has been involved in all facets of the program, including recruiting, budgeting, travel, practice planning, game preparation, and social media.
"We are excited about the next chapter of Ferrum women's volleyball under the leadership of Coach
Morgan Milligan," said Adams. "Coach Milligan has been instrumental throughout our transition to NCAA Division II and has consistently demonstrated a strong commitment to the growth and development of our student-athletes and program culture. We are excited about the positive influence she will continue to have on our current roster, as well as the talented incoming 2026 class, as we continue building a program that reflects the values and competitive spirit of Ferrum College."
Milligan arrived at Ferrum in July 2023 from Concord University, where she spent a year as a full-time assistant coach for the Mountain Lions. She oversaw the academic progress of student-athletes, recruiting visits, and everything from practices to coordinating travel. During her time at Concord, she also served as Director of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.
"I'm incredibly grateful for the opportunity to lead this program and build on the foundation that's already been established," said Milligan. "My goal is to create a culture centered around hard work, accountability and relationships, while helping our student-athletes grow both on and off the court."
Milligan graduated from the University of Virginia's College at Wise with a Bachelor of Arts in 2020. She went on to earn her Masters in Educational Leadership from Concord in 2022.
Milligan succeeds Shelbylynn Adair, who spent the past four years at the helm of the women's volleyball program and guided Ferrum in its first year of transitioning from NCAA Division III to Division II. The Panthers graduated one player this year, while 14 others are eligible to return for the 2026 season.
