Panther Women Top Greensboro 2-1 on the Road

GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Kara Pegram scored the game-winning goal in the 78th minute to lift Ferrum College to a 2-1 USA South Athletic Conference women's soccer win over Greensboro College this afternoon on the road.

Following a scoreless first half, Mary Randolph put the Pride up 1-0 with a goal in the 64th minute of play.  Ferrum's LaQuinta Garrett tied the game with a goal in the 69th minute, lofting a long ball from the right side over Greensboro goalkeeper Shireen Unvala.  A few minutes later, Garrett sent a cross from the right side, which Pegram put past Unvala for the eventual game-winner.

Greensboro (7-4, 1-1 USA South) out-shot Ferrum 25-9 and closed with a 9-2 edge in corner kicks.  Unvala made three saves for the Pride, playing all 90 minutes in net.  Ferrum's Caitlyn Deaton played 90 minutes between the pipes
and made 12 saves.

Ferrum (6-5-1, 2-1 USA South) returns to action Sunday, Oct. 9, at  Methodist University.  The USA South contest gets underway at 4 p.m. in Fayetteville, North Carolina.
