SALEM, Va. -- #13 Emory University beat Ferrum College 81-67 in non-conference men's basketball tonight in the opening round of the V-Foundation Classic, hosted by Roanoke College.
Daryl Hart led the Panthers (0-2) with 18 points. Hart went 7-19 from the floor and drilled a pair of three-point shots.
Lamont King added 14 points and seven rebounds in the loss, while
Marcus Mayo (Rockbridge County) had 13 points.
Emory led 51-31 at halftime and closed the game with a 42-32 rebounding edge. Jake Davis had 19 points for the Eagles, Austin Claunch had 17 points, Alex Greven had 15 points, and Michael Friedberg had 12 points and 10 rebounds.
Emory (1-0) plays host Roanoke Saturday at 2 p.m., followed by a Ferrum-Roanoke matchup Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m.
