FERRUM, Va. -- Luis Peralta scored all three goals as Emory & Henry College shut out Ferrum College 3-0 in non-conference men's soccer tonight at Penn-Roediger Field in the season-opener for both teams.
The Wasps led 1-0 after Peralta's first goal, at the 5:46 mark. Peralta then slipped past the Ferrum defense immediately and scored 10 seconds later and giving Emory & Henry a 2-0 lead, which it would carry into halftime. Jacob Exum was credited with an assist on the first goal.
Peralta would find the back of the net in the 54th minute to record the rare hat trick for his team. Ferrum goalkeeper
Justin Robinson made four saves, while Justin Spencer made two saves for Emory & Henry (1-0).
Ferrum (0-1) will be back in action this weekend at the Emory & Henry Tournament Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 3-4. Ferrum faces LaGrange College Saturday at 5 p.m. and Huntingdon College Sunday at noon.
