FERRUM, Va. -- The Ferrum College women's soccer team dropped a 1-0 game tonight at home to Randolph College to open the 2011 season.
Brittany Hammons scored in the 39th minute of play and the Wildcats played enough defense to allow the goal to stand at Penn-Roediger Field for the non-conference win. Ferrum outshot Randolph 25-5.
Briana Baird played all 90 minutes in net for the Panthers, posting two saves. Her counterpart Hunter Gibson recorded eight saves in net for the Wildcats.
