Ferrum led 14-0 at the 9:32 mark of the second quarter on a Makya Jackson 37-yard reception and a 3-yard Jericho James run.  Emory & Henry reeled off 31 unanswered points from there, taking a 31-14 lead with 2:55 left in the third quarter.  Included in that stretch was a pair of rushing touchdowns by Kasey Jones and a field goal by Matt Turchin.

The Panthers responded with a pair of scores on QB Tim Reynolds' 1-yard run and BJ Jennings' 31-yard touchdown reception from Reynolds, cutting the lead to 31-28.  Emory & Henry came back to post a pair of touchdowns on identical 30-yard passes from QB Kyle Boden to Chad Williams and Sam Edmonds and push the Wasps' lead to 45-28 with 9:05 left in the fourth quarter.

James scored the second of his two touchdowns with 1:37 left to play, and Reynolds hit Tyler Brubaker with a 2-point PAT to reach the final score.

Ferrum DB Tae Motley was named WVEC Defensive Most Valuable Player after recording nine tackles.  Boden was named Offensive MVP for Emory & Henry after throwing for 335 yards and four touchdowns on 32-50 passing with no interceptions.

Reynolds was 11-19 passing for 152 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions.  Reynolds led Ferrum in rushing with 55 yards on 16 carries.  Jatavious Adams had eight tackles for the Panthers, including three solo and one for loss.  Devan Sproles had 10 tackles, including three solo and two for loss for Wasps.

The win was the Wasps' sixth straight in the 28-game series.  Emory & Henry now leads the all-time series 19-9.  The two teams first met in 1985, with Ferrum posting a 15-8 win.

Ferrum (0-1) returns to action Saturday, Sept. 8, at Shenandoah University.  A long-time USA South Athletic Conference opponent, Shenandoah has moved to the Old Dominion Athletic Conference beginning this year and is now a non-conference opponent.
