FERRUM, Va. --
Kara Pegram had a pair of goals to pave the way in Ferrum College's 5-0 USA South Athletic Conference women's soccer win over William Peace College this afternoon at Penn-Roediger Field. The shutout is Ferrum's first this season, and the Panthers' first shutout since a 7-0 rout of the Pacers last season.
Pegram scored Ferrum's first goal in the 24th minute of play, followed by a
Morgan Funck score in the 26th minute. Peace had an own goal in the 50th minute, followed by Pegram's second goal of the day at 54:30.
Casey Johnson capped scoring for the Panthers when she drilled a shot from 15 yards out and beat Peace goalkeeper Sydney Melchert.
Caitlyn Deaton started in net for the Panthers, playing 87:20 and making two saves.
Chelsea Wingate played the final 2:40 between the pipes without facing a shot. Melchert played all 90 minued for Peace (1-9, 0-4 USA South), making 11 saves.
Ferrum (5-5, 3-1 USA South) wil be back in action Sunday, Sept. 30, at home against Meredith College. The USA South match gets underway at 2 p.m. at Penn-Roediger Field.
