FERRUM, Va. -- Ferrum College freshman
Jordan Mann has been named Men's Basketball Rookie of the Week by the USA South Athletic Conference for his play in the Panthers' 85-71 win over North Carolina Wesleyan College Dec. 29 at home.
Mann had 10 points, four rebounds, an assist, a steal and a blocked shot to help Ferrum stay unbeaten in league play at 2-0 with the win over the Bishops. Also nominated for Rookie of the Week honors was D.J. Roberson of Christopher Newport University.
Mann is averaging 4.9 points and 4.0 rebounds through Ferrum's first 10 games. Averaging almost 18 minutes per game, he is shooting 46% from the floor, including 46% from behind the three-point arc, and 56% from the free thrown line.
Coach Bill Tharp's team evened its record at 5-5 with the win over N.C. Wesleyan. The Panthers resume action Wednesday, Jan. 2, on the road when they face #19 Christopher Newport. The USA South game tips off at 7:30 p.m. in Newport News, Virginia. Ferrum will then take on USA South newcomer LaGrange College Saturday, Jan. 5, at 4 p.m. in LaGrange, Georgia.
