
ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. -- Carolyn Finney's unassisted goal in the second overtime gave North Carolina Wesleyan College a 2-1 come-from-behind USA South Athletic Conference women's soccer win over Ferrum College this afternoon.
Morgan Funck scored Ferrum's lone goal at 47:50, only to see Chelsea Laurens send the game into overtime with a goal in the 64th minute of regulation. Finney found the back the net in the 106th minute of play when she poked a defelection off a free kick.
Caitlyn Deaton made five saves in net for Ferrum (5-5-1, 2-3-1 USA South). Haley Hopkings and Vanessa Batchelor split time in net for the Bishops (4-6, 1-4 USA South), with neither making a save. N.C. Wesleyan out-shot Ferrum 14-3.
Ferrum returns to action Friday, Oct. 11, at Mary Baldwin College. The USA South game gets underway st 2:00 p.m. in Staunton, Virginia.
