FERRUM, Va. -- USA South newcomer Covenant College jumped out to an early 2-0 lead and never looked back in posting a 4-1 men's soccer win over Ferrum College tonight at Penn-Roediger Field.
Aaron Gustine scored the loan goal for the Panthers.
Garrison Dale, Joel Friesen, Michael Arango and Barrett Schmidt had a goal each for the Scots. Arango was credited with an assist on Schmidt's goal, the final tally of the night. Ferrum's
Cristian Turcios earned an assist on Gustine's goal.
Justin Robinson played the first 45 minutes in net for Ferrum, making two saves and allowing four goals. Joseph Martin came on to play the second half and recorded two saves and no goals allowed. Shuler Polk played all 90 minutes in net for Covenant (5-2-2, 1-1 USA South), making five saves.
Ferrum (4-4, 1-1 USA South) returns to action next Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 28-29, with a pair of USA South road games. The Panthers play at Huntingdon (Ala.) College Saturday, and at LaGrange (Ga.) College Sunday. Both are part of USA South doubleheaders in which the women's teams will also be in action.
