FERRUM, Va.-- Rebecca Staylor, Julia Rebellon and Logan Bill each scored to lift North Carolina Wesleyan College to a 3-1 USA South women's soccer win over Ferrum College this afternoon at Penn-Roediger Field.
Meghin Martin scored the lone goal for Ferrum in the final minute of play.
Martin broke free down the middle of the field, took a
Morgan Funck pass and beat NC Wesleyan goalkeeper Ashley Major with 24 seconds remaining in regulation to help Ferrum avoid the shutout. Major played all 90 minutes in net for the Bishops (6-4-1, 2-2-1 USA South) with two saves.
Caitlyn Deaton and
Chelsea Wingate split time in net for Ferrum, combining for five saves.
The Panthers (6-5, 3-3 USA South) return to action Tuesday, Oct. 7, at home against Salem College. The non-conference game gets underway at 7:00 p.m.
