FERRUM, Va. --
Brian Clarke sank a jumper as time expired to lead Ferrum College to a 85-84 USA South men's basketball win over William Peace University at Swartz Gymnasium on Senior Day.
Clarke, the lone senior, had 18 points, four assists, and three steals on the day.
Jamal Pullen led the floor with 26 points along with six rebounds.
Rashawn Speas and
Alek Ayer had 11 and 10 points, respectively. On defense for the Panthers, Ayer had a game high nine rebounds.
For William Peace (8-14, 2-9 USA South), Jalen Vince had a team high 17 points. Micheal Wolf and Chris Thomas both produced 10 points.
William Peace had a one point lead with 9.1 seconds remaining in regulation when Ayer in-bounded the ball to Clarke. Clarke took it upon himself to finish off the game. His shot left his hands with 1.3 seconds left on the clock and as time expired, his game-winner fell.
Ferrum (10-12, 6-6 USA South) returns to action tomorrow at Greensboro College. The game is set to begin at 7:30 p.m.
