Ty Comer went 3-4 with a double and two RBI as Ferrum College dropped a 7-2 game this afternoon at non-conference opponent Bridgewater College.
Brenden Howell broke a 1-1 tie with a two-run homer in the sixth inning for Bridgewater, which led 3-1 after six. The Eagles (6-1) picked up four more runs in the seventh inning.
Dalton Vetter absorbed the loss for Ferrum, pitching two innings in relief and allowing Howell's home run. Starter Justin Petock got the win, striking out eight batters over five innings, and allowing four hits and a run.
Ferrum (5-3) will be back in action Saturday and Sunday, March 1-2, at home against USA South opponent Maryville College. The two teams will play a doubleheader Saturday starting at 1:00 p.m., then a single game Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
