Megan Webb scored 44 seconds into overtime with an assist from
Meghin Martin to lift Ferrum College to a 2-1 non-conference women's soccer victory over visiting Eastern Mennonite University tonight at Penn-Roediger Field.
Following a scoreless first half,
Morgan Funck put Ferrum on top with a goal in the 48th minute of play. Eastern Mennonite's Morgan Hill tied the game with a goal at 64:43, one minute after Ferrum had a goal nullified by an offside call.
Caitlyn Deaton played 90:44 in net for the Panthers with one save. Becca Borg played 90:44 in net for the Royals (2-4-1) with seven saves. Ferrum out-shot Eastern Mennonite 14-5 and closed with a 5-1 advantage in corner kicks.
Ferrum (3-2) returns to action Friday, Sept. 19, at Piedmont College. That game is the USA South opener for both teams and is scheduled to get underway at 5:00 p.m. in Demorest, Georgia. Coach James Lofton's team will then play at Covenant College Saturday, Sept. 20, in Lookout Mountain, Georgia. Both games are part of USA South doubleheaders with the Ferrum men.
