Ferrum Men Lose 84-74 to St. Joseph's-Brooklyn

SALEM, Va. -- Ferrum College's men's basketball team fell 84-74 to St. Joseph's College-Brooklyn in the opening round of the V Foundation Classic, hosted by Roanoke College this afternoon at the Homer C. Bast Center.

How It Happened
The Bears opened a 15-6 lead just over five minutes into the game, only to see Ferrum go on a 25-18 run to close to within a bucket at 33-31 on Josh Grimard's layup with 3:14 left in the first half. St. Joseph's-Brooklyn closed the half with a 9-4 run to take a 41-35 lead at the break. Ferrum got within a basket two more times, the last on a Rashawn Speas layup at 15:07 to make it 51-49, but that's as close as the Panthers would get the rest of the night. SJ-B used a 20-11 run over the next nine minutes to build a 71-60 lead, then held on for the win.
