Jacole Hairston poured in 23 points as Ferrum College posted a 74-33 USA South Athletic Conference women's basketball win over Meredith College Saturday, Feb. 14, on the road.
Ferrum jumped out to a 10-0 lead early on, and eventually took a 30-7 lead when
Kemani Crawford converted a pair of free throws with 5:42 left in the first half. The Panthers led 39-14 at halftime and opened the second half with a 16-8 run to fuel the rout and push the lead to 55-22 with 10:14 left to play.
Hairston was 9-14 from the floor, including 3-6 from behind the three-point line, and added five assists and a block. Crawford had another solid game with 10 points and 11 rebounds, while
Brooke Lewis had nine points and nine rebounds,
Erin March added nine points and
Kelli Mounce had eight points. Jessi Hayes had 10 points to lead Meredith (10-11, 9-6 USA South).
Ferrum (13-8, 11-4 USA South) is back in action Sunday, Feb. 15, at William Peace University. The USA South game is scheduled to tip off at 3:00 p.m. in Raleigh, North Carolina. The Panthers close out regular season play with three home games next week. Coach
