FERRUM, Va. --
Aiyana Lew went 5-5 with three runs and three RBI over two games to help Ferrum College complete a non-conference doubleheader sweep over visiting Bluefield College tonight at Franklin Community Bank Field. The Panthers won the opener 6-0, then took the nightcap 12-1 in five innings.
In the opener, Lew went 3-3 with a run and an RBI.
Emily Taylor pitched a complete game, allowing one hit over seven innings with six strikeouts.
Amanda Roberts had a three-run homer in the bottom of the third inning of the nightcap for the Panthers, while Lew went 2-2 with two runs and two RBI. Roberts improved to 4-0 on the mound with the win. The Rams (0-6) got a pair of base hits each from Eryn Haley and Laura Craven in game two.
Ferrum (10-2) travels south this Sunday and Monday, March 15-16, for a pair of USA South Athletic Conference doubleheaders. Coach Vickie Van Kleeck's team will take on LaGrange College Sunday in LaGrange, Georgia, then Huntingdon College Monday in Montgomery, Alabama.
