ROCKY MOUNT, Va. --
Troy Helton had 154 yards rushing, including 94 yards in the first quarter, but Ferrum College fell 42-17 in non-conference football action to Shenandoah University this afternoon at Franklin County High School. The Hornets make their first 2-0 start in school history with the win.

How It HappenedFerrum led 3-0 in the first quarter on a 23-yard
Hunter Ferguson field goal, but the Hornets responded with a touchdown on Deshon Brown's 26-yard catch from Hayden Bauserman less that two minutes later. Ferrum engineered a nine-play, 82-yard drive on it's next possession, scoring on Joe Barton's 1-yard run to take a 10-7 lead after one quarter. Cedric Delany and Jalen Brisco scored second-quarter touchdowns to give Shenandoah a 21-10 lead at the break.
Michael Hunter trimmed the lead to 21-17 when he rumbled in from 21 yards out midway through the third quarter. Following an eight-yard touchdown strike from Bauserman to Leonard Scott, Ferguson drilled his second field goal of the day, this one from 32 yards out, and the lead was 28-20. Shenandoah then scored another pair of TDs, a 59-yard pass from Bauserman to Brisco and a seven-yard run by Delaun Richardson to put SU on top 42-20.
