FERRUM, Va. - Ferrum College led by 11 at halftime and never trailed in picking up an 85-79 USA South Athletic Conference men's basketball win over visiting Huntingdon College this afternoon at Swartz Gym.

D'Andre Mullen had one as the Panthers opened an early 10-2 lead. Ferrum went on to lead 41-30 at the break. Huntingdon opened the second half with a 5-0 run to cut the lead to six points at 41-35, but Ferrum answered with a 7-3 run of its own and the lead was back up to 10 points at 48-38 with 13:34 left. The Hawks got as close at four points when Jerrod Pettus hit a jumper at 8:03 to make it 59-55. Less than a minute later,
Steven Jones was fouled shooting a three-pointer, and knocked down all three free throws to widen the lead to seven. Jones closed the game with a career-high 18 points coming off the bench.
