Brian Mann broke Ferrum's single game rushing record with 254 yards today.
LaGRANGE, Ga. --
Brian Mann rushed 33 times for a school record 254 yards and a touchdown to lead Ferrum College to a 44-20 USA South football road win over LaGrange College this afternoon at Callaway Stadium.

THE BASICS
Mann's 10-yard rush late in the fourth quarter allowed him to surpass Ferrum's record for single game rushing yards. Mann plunged into the end zone from nine yards out on the next play for the final score of the game with 3:47 left to play. The previous record holder was Jermaine Pitts, who had 242 yards in a 30-27 overtime loss to Bridgewater College Sept. 16, 2006 in Ferrum.
Quarterback
Harvey Taylor opened scoring with an 8-yard run less three minutes into the game for a 7-0 Ferrum lead. Marcus Campbell made it 7-7 when he scored on a 56-yard TD reception from Connor Blair. Taylor made it 14-7 with a 7-yard TD run, then
Ne'Shaun Gill hauled in a 66-yard TD pass from Taylor and the lead was 20-7 to open the second quarter.
Khari Chase and
Johnny White each added a touchdown for the Panthers before the quarter would end and the score was 34-7 at the break. Brendon Scott and Ervens Oge would each score touchdowns on pass receptions from Blair in the fourth quarter, while
Chase Deaton connected on a 29-yard field goal for Ferrum and Mann capped scoring late in the game with his 10th rushing touchdown of the year. Through seven game this season, Mann has 1079 yards rushing on 178 carries, averaging 6.1 yards per carry.
