FERRUM, Va. -- Ferrum College split a USA South Athletic Conference softball doubleheader with Covenant College, losing the opener 4-3 and winning the nightcap 8-6 this afternoon at Panther Field.

How It HappenedCovenant erased a 3-0 deficit in game one by scoring four runs in the seventh inning, then held on for the win. In game two, Ferrum led 4-1 after three innings and 8-2 after six innings. The Scots scored four runs in the top of the seventh inning, but Ferrum was able play enough defense to escape with the win.
