FERRUM, Va. -- Ferrum College dropped a pair of USA South softball games to Averett University this afternoon at home, falling 15-4 in six innings and 6-2 at American National Bank Field. Prior to the game, Ferrum held a Senior Day ceremony for

THE BASICS
Kaitlyn Aherron had a grand slam in the sixth of the opener and a three-run homer in first inning of the nightcap to help Averett earn the USA South sweep. Taylor Bailey pitched a six-inning complete game to get the win in the opener, then tossed the first four innings of game two to get another win.

Gerald Culler's team will be back in action Tuesday, April 4, at Roanoke College. The non-conference doubleheader gets underway at 5 p.m. in Salem, Virginia. Ferrum will then be the #3 seed in the 2017 USA South Softball Tournament, hosting East #6 N.C. Wesleyan in a best-of-three-series Saturday and Sunday, April 8-9.
