FERRUM, Va. -- Ferrum College's football team dropped its Homecoming game this afternoon, falling 31-28 to Huntingdon College in USA South action at W.B. Adams Stadium. The Hawks are the league's two-time defending champs.

Huntingdon led 14-7 at halftime, then tacked on a 22-yard Josh Fields field goal to go up 17-7 at 12:17 of the third quarter. Ferrum responded with a 51-yard

Johnny White scoring strike to close the gap to 17-14, but the Hawks came back with a 24-yard touchdown pass a few minutes later to extend the lead to 24-14.
Nick Pearce hauled in a 53-yard TD pass from Clifford to end the third quarter and Ferrum was within striking distance at 24-21. Chip Taylor's nine-yard touchdown run with 10:48 left in the game capped an eight-play, 86-yard drive to put Huntingdon on top 31-21 and proved to be the game-winning score. Sam Martin run with 1:11 left in regulation to trim the lead to 31-28, then looked to have successfully converted the ensuing onside kick attempt, but the play was called for a Ferrum player illegally touching the ball before it carried 10 yards. Huntingdon took over and killed the clock from there to remain unbeaten in league play.
