Rashad Reed led the Panthers with 22 points and was one of five players in double figures.
The Panthers trailed by 14 points in the first half, but used a 16-3 run to get to within a point at halftime, 34-33.
Ferrum shot 49% from the floor to Hood's 38%, and outrebounded the Blazer 42-39.
