SALEM, Va. -- #7 seeded Ferrum College will compete tonight in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Tournament quarterfinals. The Panthers face #2 Virginia Wesleyan University tonight at the Salem Civic Center, with tip-off set for 6:00 p.m.
The Panthers earned a spot in the quarterfinals with an 87-84 play-in game win over #10 Emory & Henry College Tuesday, February 25, at Swartz Gym. Carrington Young led Ferrum with 20 points and seven rebounds. Kajuan Madden-McAfee had 18 points and seven rebounds, Nick Helton had 17 points, including five three-pointers, and Rashad Reed had 10 points.
Tonight's quarterfinal is the second time Ferrum and Virginia Wesleyan have faced each other this season. The first meeting was on Sunday, December 1, with the Marlins pulling out a 60-56 win in Virginia Beach. Four Marlin starters scored in double figiures, led by Tyree Golston's 17 points and Jordan White's 13 points. Madden-McAfee had 18 points off the bench to lead Ferrum, and Marcus Plair added 13 points.
