Box Score LYNCHBURG, Virginia -- The Ferrum College men's soccer team fell short to a strong University of Lynchburg side Saturday night, 5-3, in a road Old Dominion Athletic Conference contest at Shellenberger Field.

THE BASICS
The Hornets found the back of the net first in the back-and-forth affair, as Bhayle Kearns finished a cross from Kenny Robles to take a 1-0 lead in the 16th minute. Lynchburg would then double their advantage as Kearns found his second goal of the match, this time from a Zach Whelan delivery.
Ferrum found themselves on the board quickly in the second stanza as Nicholas Berruti netted a shot on a play where Jeffery Calix and Erick Nolasco each were credited with an assist. The Hornets would then answer just six minutes later to push the lead to 3-1. Manzi Shalita bested the Panther keeper in the 56th minute from a Brennan Lagana pass.
Nolasco would again be a factor for the Ferrum attack, finishing a Massimo Cirignaco delivery in the 60th minute to bring the Panthers back within one. Lynchburg would again answer quickly, as Luke Mega would be credited with an unassisted goal in the 65th minute.
The Panthers would try their hand at a late comeback, making it a 4-3 contest in the 81st minute when defender Leo Galpin put a Nolasco pass in the back of the net with a little under 10:00 to play. Lagana shut the door on the Ferrum comeback in the final minute of play as he finished a breakaway to reach the 5-3 final result.
