THE BASICS
After a scoreless first half, Roanoke first-year Morgan O'Neil opened the scoring a minute and a half into the second stanza to give the Maroons a 1-0 lead. With Roanoke controlling most of the action throughout the half, Ferrum would tie the game at the 79:23 mark with Hentz's deep strike. After a Roanoke foul, Hentz set up along the right side and drove her free kick into the upper left corner of the net to tie the game.
Both teams battled through regulation and the first overtime with no real scoring opportunities. The Maroons looked to secure the game-winning goal in the 108th minute, however the celebration was short lived due to an offsides call.
Panther goalkeeper Abbey Hayes had 10 saves in net, while Hannah Shay recorded one save for Roanoke.
BEHIND THE WHISTLE
"I am so incredibly proud of the way we fought to come back after being 1-0 down. It wasn't always pretty, but we never stopped working. There is a lot of heart in this team!" --Head Coach, Erin Saleeby
