THE BASICS
The first five innings saw a pitchers dual from both sides, as neither team was able to scratch anything across.
Tyler De Meo would break the scoreless tie with a single through the left side in the visiting-half of the sixth, scoring Gavin Kandrick on the play. Carter Plunkett would hit a two-bagger to right field later in the inning, scoring De Meo and putting the Maroons up 2-0 as it would be the last inning of work for Panther starter Devon Boothe.
The Maroons would tack on one more as Plunkett left the yard in the top of the eighth inning, putting Roanoke up 3-0.
With it being a save situation in the final frame, the Maroons brought in closer Kevin Ledford. Ledford found himself in a little trouble as Ozzie Torres led the inning off with a double to left center. Clayton Michael would then reach first on an error, sending Torres over to third on the play. Ledford would then get two big strikeouts before Rufus Hurdle found the outfield grass with a single through the left side, bringing Torres around to score to make it a 3-1 ball game. Issac Yeaman would then lace a ball up the middle, but a deflection off of Ledford's glove allowed Mason Staz to come across and complete the 1-6-3 putout to end it.
