GAME ONE
It was the Bridgewater offense that showed first in game one, as the Eagles tallied six runs in the second frame. The rally was started when Sarah Wimer stole home. Avery Pinder then followed it up with a single down the left field line, scoring Brooklyn Fridley. Pinder and Morgan Landes would then come around to score off of an error to make it 4-0. Torie Shifflett doubled in the same inning, scoring Martin and eventually scoring herself on a Samantha Hensley single to cap off the outburst.
Bayley Cunningham would put the Panthers on the board with a single up the middle in the home-half of the 6th as Arielle Eure would come around to score and make it a 6-1 game. Bridgewater would answer right back with two home runs in the seventh, Martin having the first one to left center and pinch-hitter Jazmyne Smith having the 2-run shot over the right field fence to take a 10-1 lead. Keri Hamlett would scratch across one more in the home frame, scoring Kassie Widner on a single to left field.
Brantley Swift (W, 1-0) tossed all seven innings for the Eagles, surrendering two runs (one earned) across 10 hits in the circle while Panther starter Ashton Lambeth (L, 1-2) got charged with the loss giving up six runs (one earned) across three innings of work.
GAME TWO
The nightcap saw the Eagle offense again strike early, as Wimer would get them on the board first with more excellent baserunning in the second. Landes would then bring Katie Thomas around to score on a base hit to left field. Bridgewater would get three more in the third frame with a Shifflett solo shot to left field and a Kaitlyn Tirona 2-RBI double to left center, scoring Wimer and Sydney Layman.
Kloe Bacon would get a run back for the Panthers in the 4th with a sacrafice fly, scoring Skyler Swaney on the play and making it a 5-1 game. Bridgewater would answer with a run in their half of the fifth when Shifflett came around to score on a Panther error. The Panther offense would then find some success in the fifth as Eure would score Makayla Miller with a single. Hamlett would then score Eure later in the inning off of an error.
The Eagles would get a run back in the sixth, but the Panthers would rally again for three more in the bottom of the sixth. Hamlett would score Jahkya Watkins with a single before Swaney picked up two more RBI scoring Eure and Tori Scott to bring the Panthers within a run, but that was as close as Ferrum would get.
Lambeth (L, 1-3) would be charged with the loss across 2.2 innings of work while Emma Killion (W, 1-0) would find her first win of the year tossing five innings of three-run softball for the Eagles.
