Women's Soccer Falls at Virginia Wesleyan

VIRGINIA BEACH, Virginia -- Ferrum College dropped an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) women's soccer match on the road to Virginia Wesleyan University, falling 3-1 this afternoon at Foster Field at the Trinder Center.

THE BASICS
Caroline Smith scored off a pass from Gracie Mullins at 39:00 to open scoring for Virginia Wesleyan. Ferrum's Ysabella Bettilyon evened things when she poked an unassisted goal into the lower left corner of the net past Marlin goalkeeper Ashleigh Lockard at the 40:57 mark, and the game was tied 1-1 at the break.

Smith notched her second goal of the game at 61:51 off an assist from Julia Marrone. Marrone then scored an insurance goal at the 69:10 mark, sending a shot into the lower right of the net past Ferrum goalkeeper Abbey Hayes.

The Marlins outshot Ferrum 28-6 and closed the game with a 10-2 advantage in corner kicks.
