FERRUM, Va. -- The Ferrum College women's soccer team dropped its 2021 home opener to non-conference opponent Averett University, falling 3-0 this afternoon at W.B. Adams Stadium.

THE BASICS
Celia de Diego recorded a hat trick in her career debut with the Cougars. She put her team on the scoreboard in the 31st minute of play with an assist from Clarice Peters, and Averett took the 1-0 lead into the break.

The freshman forward netted her second goal at 66:07 and her third at 78:16, with Maiju Hyvarinen and Madison Morin earning assists, respectively, on the two goals.
