ROCKY MOUNT, North Carolina -- Ferrum College dropped its baseball season opener this afternoon on the road to North Carolina Wesleyan College, falling 1-0 in non-conference action at Bauer Field.

THE BASICS
Zach Scott doubled to right field in the bottom of the second inning for N.C. Wesleyan, reached third on a wild pitch, then scored on a fielder's choice for the only run of the game.
The Panthers had runners at first and second in the top of the ninth inning before Zach Woolard struck out Justin Brady to end the game.
Starter Dylan Cheeley led N.C. Wesleyan in a pitcher's dual, recording seven strikeouts over five innings. Cheeley, Woolard and two other Bishop hurlers combined for 13 strikeouts this afternooon.
Starter Will Davis pitched six full frames for Ferrum, striking out six batters. Jacob Gladstone and Sebastian Dexter had a base hit each for the Panthers.

Coach Ryan Brittle's team will be back in action Saturday, February 19, with a home doubleheader against against Alfred State (N.Y.) College. The two teams will then play a single game Sunday, February 20. First pitch is set for noon both days.
