Box Score 2 FERRUM, Virginia -- Ferrum College split an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) baseball doubleheader with Hampden-Sydney College this afternoon at Panther Field, taking the opener 5-1 and dropping the nightcap 11-7.

GAME ONE
In the opener, Davis Yeaman singled to right field in the bottom the first inning, stole second, advanced to third on a groundout then scored on Ozzie Torres' RBI groundout.
Hampden-Sydney scored a run in the top of the seventh to tie the game at 1-1, but Ferrum answered with four runs in the bottom of the eighth, including two in Clayton Michael's RBI single to right field.
Starter Will Davis pitched a gem, allowing just two hits over eight innings and striking out 10 batters. Matt Sheppard came on in the ninth inning to close it out, striking out two of the three batters he faced.

GAME TWO
Ferrum drew first blood in the nightcap with three runs in the bottom of the first inning. The Tigers scored two in the second inning and two in the third to go on top 4-3, but the Panthers scored two in the bottom of the third to reclaim the lead, 5-4, after three full innings.
Hampden-Sydney got two more runs in the top of the sixth, but Ferrum tied the game at 6-6 with a run in the bottom of the frame off Yeaman's RBI single to left field.
The Tigers exploded for five runs in the eighth, and Ferrum answered with a one run in the bottom of the inning on Grayson Chitwood's RBI single through the left side.
