LEXINGTON, Virginia -- Ferrum College fell twice in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) baseball action to Washington and Lee University Sunday, April 24. The Panthers dropped the opener 5-4, then lost 7-2 in the nightcap, played at Smith Field.

GAME ONE
Nick Funk's RBI double to left field in the first inning gave Ferrum the lead, but Washington and Lee came back to score a run in the bottom of the frame to tie it up. The Generals added two runs in the second and another in the third for a 4-1 lead after three full innings.

Justin Brady singled up the middle to open the fourth inning, advanced to second on Clayton Michael's single through the left side, moved to third on a wild pitch, then scored on Davis Yeaman's groundout. The score remained 4-2 into the seventh inning, when W&L added a run to make it a 5-2 game.

In the top of the ninth, Ozzie Torres' double to left scored Bryce Long and Michael, but that's all Ferrum would get. Starter Will Davis went six innings on the mound with nine strikeouts for the Panthers.

Ferrum scored three runs in the first inning on Grayson Chitwood's RBI single through the right side, Brady's sac fly to left and on a run on a throwing error. W&L trimmed the lead with a run in the second inning, then added two in the fourth, two in the fifth and two in the seventh for the final count.
