EMORY, Virginia -- Ferrum College needed extra innings to defeat Emory & Henry in non-conference action, 11-10 this afternoon at Porterfield-DeVault Field. Clayton Micahel hit his first career grand slam and drove in the go-ahead run in the top of the 10th. The Panther defense did the rest to secure the win in extra innings.

THE BASICS
Emory & Henry's McCray Sawyers hit a three-run homerun, in a five run first inning. The Wasps extended the lead to 6-0 after the second inning. Nick Funk hit a solo shot to left center in the third, the first of two in the inning for the Panthers. Justin Brady drew a walk with the bases loaded and that brought up Clayton Michael to the plate. On a 1-0 pitch, he belted a shot over the left field wall to tie the game up 6-6.
Emory & Henry took the lead in the bottom half of the third on an RBI single to left. Grayson Chitwood scored on a wild pitch and Justin Brady drove in his second run of the day with a single to left. Funk hit a sac fly and Ozzie Torres scored on a passed ball to lead 10-7 in the top of the fifth. The Wasps scored twice in the bottom of the fifth and tied the game in the seventh on a wild pitch.
In the top of the 10th, Michael smacked a single to center field with two outs to drive in the go-ahead run. Matthew Sheppard struck out two and got a groundout to shut down E&H's comeback and get the win.
