FERRUM, Virginia -- The United Soccer Coaches have named their All-Region Teams and Ferrum College's
Bri Bitz has been honored as a fourth-team pick. Ferrum competes in the USC's Region VI.
Bitz led the Panthers this season, starting all 19 games and racking up 44 points on 19 goals and six assists. She had a pair of hat tricks this season, the first on August 30 at Mary Baldwin University and the second on September 28 at Eastern Mennonite University.Â
Bitz is only the third All-Region selection for Ferrum since the inception of the women's soccer program in 1988, a 37-year span. She joins Susan Sauter, who was a third team All-Region selection in 1995, and LaQuinta Garrett, who earned third team All-Region in 2007.
A graduate student from Ridgeway, Virginia, Bitz prepped at Magna Vista in Martinsville. She began her career at George Mason University, then attended University of North Carolina at Asheville before transferring and playing her final two seasons at Ferrum.
Bitz finished first in the ODAC in shots on goal per game, goals per game, second in points per game, third in shots per game and fifth in game-winning goals per game. Ferrum finished 13-5-1 this season under sixth-year Head Coach
Erin Saleeby. The Panthers set a new school record for season wins with 13, and a new school record for consecutive wins with 11.
The College announced in April of 2024 its intention to reclassify to the NCAA Division II level, beginning in Fall 2025. Ferrum will leave the ODAC after a seven-year stint, and join Conference Carolinas.
