EMORY, Va. — Emory & Henry University defeated Ferrum College 6-1 in non-conference women's tennis action Wednesday, March 11, at Richardson Tennis Courts.

THE BASICS
Emory & Henry opened the match by sweeping the doubles competition to take the early lead. The Wasps secured wins at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles before adding a default victory at No. 3 to claim the doubles point.

The hosts continued their momentum in singles play, earning victories at four positions to seal the match. Olivia Pursley picked up a 6-3, 6-4 win over Stephanie Porras at No. 2 singles, while Ellyson Kovacs and Sarah McClure each posted 6-0, 6-0 decisions at No. 3 and No. 4, respectively. Emory & Henry also received default victories at No. 5 and No. 6 singles.

Ferrum's lone point came at the top of the lineup, where Bianca Solorzano defeated Tahnne Sesma 6-2, 6-0 at No. 1 singles. With the win, Solorzano remains unbeaten in singles play, and is now 4-0.
