FERRUM, Va. -- The College Sports Communicators (CSC) has announced the 2025-26 Softball Academic All-District Team, and Ferrum College starting pitcher
Emily Wood has been honored. CSC Academic All-District honors recognize student-athletes for their outstanding achievements both on the field and in the classroom.
To be eligible for CSC Academic All-District honors, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore (academic and athletic), hold a minimum 3.50 cumulative grade point average, and be a starter or key reserve. Athletes must also meet specific competition minimums and be nominated by a current CSC member.
A senior from Huddleston, Virginia, Wood prepped at nearby Staunton River High School. She earned Academic All-District honors this year following an impressive 2025-26 season, both academically and athletically.
Wood graduated earlier this month with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration, maintaining a perfect 4.0 grade point average. She earned the College's Alexandria Dixon Most Outstanding Student in Business Administration Award in May 2026.
A starting pitcher for the Panthers the past two years, Wood made 21 starts this season, posted a 4.70 ERA over 95.1 innings, and recorded 44 strikeouts. In her two seasons with the Panther softball program, she struck out 95 batters.
Wood initially enrolled at Ferrum in the fall of 2024 and earned her bachelor's degree in two years. She plans to return to Ferrum in the fall of 2026 to pursue a Master of Science degree in Psychology and play one final season of softball.
